With the Adult Time Lesbian Survey’s results being compiled right now to be shared with you soon, we thought it would be interesting to go back in time and revisit our girl-on-girl content history with a profile on our original lesbian offering and the studio that started it all: Girlsway.
Girlsway launched on October 23rd, 2014 as an adult network dedicated to 100% girl-girl content. The initial motto was “Every woman is a lesbian at heart”, playfully hinting at the popular porn lore that, under the right circumstances, all women could be swayed into sapphic love. At the time, this was our most ambitious project ever, becoming an instant success both commercially and critically. This new network included fan favorites Webyoung (launched a year earlier on March 13th, 2013) which focused on new coming models, Mommy’s Girl, our acclaimed series built around family roleplay, Sex Tape Lesbians, and Girls Try Anal. Both Sex Tape Lesbians and Girls Try Anal ended up being scaled-down and re-imagined over the years, with the latest version of STL making a comeback in our reality project Is This Real?!.
Following the releases of the popular pilots Sharing The Bed, A Wife’s Affair, and The Business of Women (which would all be turned into multi-parts features), we worked on our very first original feature film: The Turning (September 2015). Adriana Chechick was the star of this 6-part lesbian horror story with a B-Movie flair and heavy squirting content directed by Girlsway’s creator (and now Adult Time’s Chief Creative Officer) Bree Mills. The story is about a strange new virus turning everyday women into sex-crazed lesbians and what has caused this mysterious outbreak.
The Turning, Project Pandora (starring Cherie Deville), and Missing (starring Riley Reid) helped create the “Girlsway Universe” that would come up in many following mini-series, special projects, or stand-alone episodes. The production value, cinematography, and high-level acting of these series made a huge impression on our members and became a benchmark for upcoming series.
As the brand grew into a large presence in the adult entertainment scene, we experimented with multiple projects: Girl of the Month, member-submitted fantasies, director-led series, dream pairing, model collaborations, and more. Those experiments allowed us to better understand what worked and what didn’t and paved the way for the launch of Pretty Dirty (which would then become Pure Taboo, more on that in an upcoming post) and Adult Time.
In October 2018, the Adult Time Original series Girlcore was released to critical acclaim. A tribute to the ’70s and 80s pulp series with a star-studded cast, this anthology series revolved around lesbians on the hunt for innocent women. Girlcore contributed to the brand reputation of Adult Time and was the first lesbian limited series to be produced outside of the Girlsway brand. It won the XBIZ 2020 for “All-Girl Series of the Year” and AVN 2020 for “Best All-Girl Gonzo/Anthology Production”. Season 2 followed a year after and was inspired by the musical landscape of the 80s.
The release of the coming of age story Teenage Lesbian in 2019 was another milestone for Girlsway and for Adult Time’s catalog. The film won 4 AVN Awards including Movie Of The Year and Best Girl/Girl Scene (Aidra Fox & Kristen Scott) and 7 XBIZ awards including Feature Movie Of The Year. Set in the 1990s and told as a series of memories, the film was an emotional and uplifting look at an 18-year-old’s final year of high school as she comes to terms with herself and her homosexuality. A special cast reunion episode came out 1 year later.
The COVID worldwide pandemic impacted the industry, and Girlsway was no exception. Our team had to quickly implement strict rules for production to keep our regular 2-3 updates per week. While slowing us down momentarily, the challenges we faced in 2020 didn’t stop us from releasing new and exciting content. True Lesbian, a romantic and thought-provoking LGBTQ+ web series rooted in real life experience, came out during that time with an initial 3 episodes run.
Cougar Queen followed in July. Muffs, madness, and mayhem awaited in this Tiger King parody where a documentary crew interviewed three lesbian porn tycoons about a vicious rivalry spanning years.
With more than 80 different lesbian series on Adult Time, Girlsway has come a long way since its founding. We are indebted to our members who believed in us and keep on being open to new ideas. Our current ongoing series are thriving. Our recent efforts to get even more insights on our fans will help us push Girlsway into a new era and give a new perspective on “girls who like girls”.

I cancelled my membership after being one of girlways og’s back in 2014 , community is dead and the quality has deteriorated , sad but true.
You guys are awesome. I remember the days when you’d have to wait for all-girl content in either “Where The Boys Aren’t”, “When The Boyz Are Away …”, “Babes Illustrated” and “No Man’s Land.”
That might date me, but (pun intended) you guys filled an all-girl hole that was absent throughout the Aughts.
I have my favourite actresses, and it’s been a delight to have a year subscription to catch them. Keep being awesome.
I go back to the late 80’s, so I completely get where you’re coming from (no pun intended). And for everyone who complains about bad acting, fake orgasms, mediocre-to-bad writing, and stale storylines, go find some of the stuff from the 80’s, 90’s and Aughts. Two-thirds of them were magazine models who couldn’t translate to film. So Girlsway (and as another noted, GFF) has truly been awesome for those of us who enjoy lesbian porn. Yes, there’s been a slight drop in overall quality (fake orgasms, mediocre acting, meh storylines), but that’s to be somewhat expected, given the pandemic and multiple changes that have gone on behind the scenes. Not to mention that coming up with new stories is HARD (again, no pun intended).
And for those whining that “it’s the same people all the time”, here’s a couple of things to keep in mind:
1) While there is apparently no shortage of new talent, they still have to learn how to shoot porn. And to act. That takes time.
2) Go back to the 80’s, 90’s, and Aughts and the days of the contract girls (and guys). About 80-85% of the movies had the same cast. So it’s nothing new. And Girlsway has done a really good job with Web Young of introducing new girls regularly.
I personally want more storylines that are both mini-series and then individual “episodes” that are related to the mini-series, going through Girlsway, Mommy’s Girl, and Web Young (especially in the tone of a noir series, like Business of Women). You could do several months based around a single story.
But overall, I love the Girlsway brand and am looking forward to what the future brings.

In 30 years time, still present or not, the Company will forever be known for progressing, evolving, and a lot would agree saving the Lesbian genre. Not to take anything away from the true pioneers in GFF/SHV who were the first to actually make quality content. If it wasn’t for them who knows what the landscape would be like, but I know Girlsway wouldn’t be here.
Girlsway took the mantle 5+ years ago and set the bar so high now that the whole Lesbian genre will forever be in a good and safe place for all of our lifetimes because other Companies will now have to step up their game or new ones will be compared to Girlsway. However, we might look back and see Bree Mills as a once in a lifetime talent, or Gamma Entertainment setting the genre back to where it was 6 years ago with extreme lockdown of contract girls, and without any competition or motivation, naturally it will get stagnant. Competition is a good thing and will progress and push the grenre to be on top of your game and ironically grow bigger than if you own a Monopoly.
This has nothing to do with their movie line, which obviously needs a big budget, but for Webyoung, Mommysgirl, and the regular Girlsway videos that a new inspiring studio now has a proper template to work with.
I guess you have to start with, thanks to GFF, a storyline and that’s where Girlsway has excelled at. First you have to give it to the director to know the limits of the girls, and if it’s not the right part for them, slot them into something where they can shine and overtime build confidence and self-esteem to then push them later that will build them a bigger audience that will help with the burn out effect.
It’s not about “bad” acting per say, not every girl can’t be like like Celeste Star, Serena Blair, and April, but like fake moaning (obviously will get to that) but Darcie for example gets a lot heat because….. don’t even know the words but you just see it through the camera. Going Bonkers comes to mind which is basic but brilliant. You can see the evolution of Webyoung’s early videos to now a setup that’s not 3 min. long.
Covered to death, but the fake porno moaning. The death and instant delete of a video because it’s actually insulting people’s intelligence. This even includes, which if my almost old 40 year butt can see it, the new tech savvy generation can see it and that’s the cut/edit into the “fake” orgasm, or girls prompting the other girl to “cum” for them (Mommysgirl) which you can also see a mile away. Even if there’s 0 moans, natural is better because you can’t hide facial reactions which is 100% key. The days of extreme closeups are gone, but linger a bit still that is not needed, God forbid we don’t see a non-protruding tounge which goes along with stopping or coaching the girls to make sure to move hair over instead of naturally let the scene flow because you know that’s all they think about after that point which you can clearly see too.
Tribbing – Doesn’t need to be in every scene, which also comes with fake moaning.
All and all at the end of the day you need a good atmosphere. Watching some Girlsway BTS videos the girls seem happy and actually love what they do which should be and hopefully 100% the goal always. There will always be new girls looking to get into the industry for the fame or money that 98% won’t reach. However if it’s a nice safe and comfortable enviroment in order for them to be themselves that shows through the camera and are able to set them up. With Social Media today, girls who build an audience actually have a chance to make good money, more so than any other time ever in the history of porn, and I believe Girlsway is doing a great job of helping the beautiful girls suceed.

Thanks for your detailed comment! Regarding the overly fake and loud moans, this has been abundantly clear that everyone wants this to be changed and we are taking it seriously. Changes in our production pipeline are sadly not instant, so it will take a few months to go over scenes that were shot previously and have new episodes coming in with more realistic sex.

It’s telling that the best that Adult Time can offer in response to any concerns that are raised is to thank members for their “feedback.” There’s never any real attempt to address the issues being raised.
We receive a lot of comments and do our best to answer to them. Sometimes, what someone consider an issue is more a subjective opinion. We will keep doing films and bigger projects in the next year, but all information we have (data, survey answers, engagement metrics, sales, etc) tend to show that regular episodes are what the vast majority of our paying customers are interested in.
We have seen in recent polls (for Pure Taboo, not as much for Girlsway) that multi-part series are something members are interested in. So we will doing more of them.
Let’s keep in mind we’re in the midst of a pandemic, and I’m sure the actors and production crew have taken breaks to help safeguard their health.
Once the pandemic is swept aside by people following the proper procedures, getting vaccinated, and so forth, I’m sure the pent up nervous energy will be channeled into great art.
For me, the mini-series and features like Missing, Vampires and Little Red were a large part of what made Girlsway so good and so unique. Girlsway’s production quality, the writing and the performances of the actors/models were untouched by any other adult site. I was estatic and thankful when I discovered it four years ago. Sadly, for whatever reasons, the consistent high quality that was everywhere at Girlsway for much of its existence just isn’t there now.
Not that long ago I absolutely enjoyed almost every Girlsway release, and particularly loved what you call the Girlsway Universe; the ‘Universe’ serials with a genuine narrative drive (and excellent production values and acting, it has to be said) were much more pleasure to watch than simple erotic entertainment. Same goes for a lot of the stand-alone films as well, their narrative opening gave the impression that something was happening to real people with real lives and backstories. proper film-making. And they were often genuinely funny and warm-hearted, which makes the sex that much more engaging.
It all seems to have slackened off a lot recently. Is it Corvid? Is it the obvious lack of some of your best performers? The new crowd don;t seem to have the on-screen presence, and, for my taste anyway, seem far too young. Something is missing anyway. At this point I feel I’ll not be renewing my subscription this year.
