Opening shot: A young man, lanky and self-conscious with shaggy hair that covers his eyes, approaches the looming, daunting gates of a prestigious-looking school. His body language is timid, hesitant – he has dreamed of attending this school all his life, but now that his dream future is literally and figuratively before him, he can scarcely believe it. He sighs deeply, steeling his nerves, and then takes his first step forward. The gates open. The banners decorating the school flap invitingly in the wind, as if waving hello. On the banners, the crest of the school is emblazoned, as well as its name: Hentai Sex School.
That opening shot not only describes the start of our protagonist Nathan’s journey in episode 1, but it also could be said that it’s an allegory for our own journey into creating adult animation for the first time: a daydream for many of us that we never ever expected would come true. Our entire production experience for years had been in live-action porn – which in and of itself was a practice that took time to master. But when an opportunity presented itself, Adult Time boldly stepped into uncharted territory in 2020 to produce our very first animated series. This groundbreaking decision not only expanded the platform’s creative horizons but also paved the way for a new era of exploring more diverse ideas and experiences that touch new audiences and closely reflect the pop culture and mainstream trends of today. Spearheaded by myself (Adult Time’s Programming Manager) and our Marketing Director, Frank Stacy, we collaborated with animation studio AnimeShin Club to birth our brainchild – “Hentai Sex School.”
Entrance Exam
Since it was our only animated project, we had no benchmarks for success, meaning we had no idea how lucrative it was going to be. It could end up flopping, deterring us from investing any further into the hentai market. So we decided that if we were only going to ever make one animated project, we wanted to ensure it was everything we had ever dreamed of doing – and more. We spent our first weeks doing a deep-dive into hentai trends, the most viewed clips and most searched terms, and all those wild animated banners you see online, to identify what viewers were most interested in. After all, if our animated future hinged on this series doing well, better make sure we get it right on the first try!
Course Syllabus
We started to notice some very clear patterns emerge from our research: Busty MILFs with glasses and pencil skirts; cute wholesome teens in schoolgirl uniforms; explosive cumshots that cover the character from head to toe; alongside some other, more out-of-the-box interests like giantesses, fuck-machines, and big-boob battles (shoutout to all you Keijo!!!!!!!! enjoyers out there!) We gathered every popular trend we could find, compared notes, and then planned out how we could cover as many of them as possible while still telling a cohesive story. We realized very early that a school setting would allow us to tackle pretty much everything on our wishlist, while also having some solid appeal for a lot of our existing subscribers too (since school content tends to do well in live-action porn too.)

One of the bonus advantages of a school setting, we agreed, is that it would be very handy for maintaining a balance between creativity and efficiency. For example, we could design a handful of key locations (classroom, auditorium, gym, cafeteria, etc.) and tell multiple stories in them without it feeling repetitive. We could reuse the character assets, especially teachers, to make the 3d modeling easier while switching the pairings in every scene and introducing new students over time to keep things fresh. The setting lent itself well for both serialized stories (following the students along during their semester) and also for episodic releases (such as the “Break” episodes we released between seasons.) And of course, the high school journey is such a staple of fiction that we knew we could shorthand certain aspects of the plot and worldbuilding and feel confident that audiences would be able to fill in the blanks – which was helpful because we knew that the episodes would need to be very short.
Bibliography And Citations
As the author of the first season and a huge pop culture geek, I tried to imbue the series with as many school-life inspirations and references as I could think of, while still telling an original story that didn’t feel derivative or copycatting other works. Astute viewers might recognize a lot of different elements from some of their (and my) favorite IPs – “Video Game High School”, “Battle Royale”, “Harry Potter”, “My Hero Academia”, “Danganronpa”, “Persona”, “Power Rangers”, “Sky High”, and more. And with season 2 being co-written by Adult Time’s talented writing team, we nonetheless aimed to pay homage to iconic plots about tournaments & competitions such as “Yu-Gi-Oh”, “The Hunger Games”, “Goblet Of Fire”, “Monsters University”, “Bring It On”, and similar. As fans of the genre ourselves, we hope we were able to faithfully capture the essence of academic adventure that so many viewers know and love.
Taking Attendance
One of the ways we wanted to bridge the gap between our live-action content and this animated project was to include pornstars familiar to our audiences as the voice actors for the characters. Doing so would give fans of those stars something to get excited about as we started to tease the project publicly, and this approach was sure to carry a bit more star-power for promoting the content in traditional adult spaces than if we went for professional hentai voice actors. It was also a good chance to give many of our roster mainstays an opportunity to work on a project unlike anything else they’ve done – many of them were super proud and excited to star in their first animated production which made the decision all the more worth it! Recording with such talented individuals such as April O’Neil, Dee Williams, Kira Noire, Wolf Hudson, Serene Siren, and more was a true treat – and the series of course wouldn’t have been the same without Jake Adams as the main character, a performance that we will forever cherish as just one small part of his illustrious legacy. Our crew, helmed by director Bree Mills, did a great job transforming the set into a recording studio for a day, to capture everyone’s amazing performances using audio techniques we were exploring for the first time.
Marks For Presentation
Any good essay needs a good cover page. And it all starts with a name – what were we gonna call ourselves? We knew, undoubtedly, we HAD to put “Hentai” in the title – it was important for SEO and for educating people right away that this was something special, deviating from Adult Time’s usual subject matter. Our original working title was “Hentai High”, though we had to pivot from that name for a handful of operational reasons. As we started to brainstorm different options and variations, one thing we realized was that maybe not everyone even knew what “hentai” means – of course hentai fans would, but for our existing members it might not be a term they’d heard before. So we decided to opt for a title that was extremely straightforward and literal – putting the words “hentai” and “sex” side-by-side were an intentional form of redundancy to make sure that both informed and uninformed viewers could understand at-a-glance that this was pornographic material, and we added “school” to make the trendy setting super-clear as well. It’s a bit of a goofy name, but in the end it’s a lighthearted project that doesn’t take itself too seriously so we felt that it was right on the money. We brought this irreverent, self-aware tone to the logo and emblem as well – the big blockish varsity font and classic school crest, together with sexually suggestive emojis and wink-wink tentacles wrapping around, combine to create a memorable and tongue-in-cheek first impression.
Straight A’s Report Card
The first season of Hentai Sex School released as an immediate success, to our delight (and in some ways surprise, as much as we’d love to say we knew we were onto something from the start). The series was especially effective as a tool to expose new audiences to Adult Time – a brand new subset of subscribers who hadn’t necessarily heard about us through our live-action catalog but were attracted to the platform by our ads and trailers for this animated series. We knew that there was some market for hentai content, but had no easy way to measure exactly how big it would be – but now we saw that it was a field we were definitely interested in pursuing further! Like that feeling of a college student finally finding their major, we had an epiphany that has led to us pursuing animation further through a handful of original co-collaborations (including a season 2 of Hentai Sex School and 4 spin-off episodes, based off its initial success) and partnerships with several independent animators to spotlight their work. We take a few minutes below to reflect on those parts of our journey – think of it like a commencement speech looking back on our animation studies of the past four years.
Exploring Diverse Animation Styles:
The arrival of “Bittersweet Candy” (a pilot for a series called Midnight Stories) showcased a distinctive animation style, diverging from the 3D animation prevalent in other Adult Time programs. This departure was intentional, reflecting the platform’s commitment to diversity in adult animated content and to scope out the viability of animating in 2D. It’s important to never get complacent, since there’s a vast spectrum of preferences within audiences and you never know what might be the next way to strike gold. It also gives us the chance to work with more different animators, providing them more opportunities and funding and thereby helping the animator community grow and gain recognition. Animated porn, much like its live-action counterpart, encompasses a broad range of styles and sub-niches, with different animators appealing to fans with varying tastes. From realistic portrayals to more cartoony imagery, there’s fans of all kinds – and the world of animated porn is a canvas where creators can explore endless possibilities, each contributing to the rich tapestry of adult entertainment. Adding to that tapestry is incredibly fulfilling, and we hope we will get plenty more opportunities to do so in the coming years.
Behind the Scenes of “Mindy – Super Horny Fun Time”:
Amid the challenges posed by the pandemic, Adult Time innovatively responded by introducing live shows, offering a daily dose of entertainment featuring popular pornstars. The ‘Mindy Show,’ proposed by Animeshin, revealed an intriguing hybrid of live performance and animation. Animeshin’s original character, Mindy, took center stage, with some moments pre-scripted and others featuring a model in a haptic suit. The innovative use of technology not only enhanced the live experience but also streamlined the animation process, ultimately contributing to the project’s success.
“Customer Service” Branches Out:
More recently, Animeshin Club proposed an original story of their own that we collaborated with them to develop – a mockumentary parody about a sexually charged office space. This was their first fully futanari-focused series, after having animated a futa episode for the first time with us for “Hentai Sex School – Principal Coldsnatch’s Break”. Having gotten their sea-legs with modeling, rigging, and animating a futanari character, they were eager to do more and pitched us their concept, which we worked with them to flesh out and finalize. With the success of “Office Ms. Conduct” in our live-action content, AgentRedGirl’s channel bringing lots of futanari fandom to the platform, and Hentai Sex School’s “Ivanna Ryder” character (voiced by the incomparable Casey Kisses) capturing hearts, we were confident that a futa romp around the office would be a great next addition to our animated library!
Hentai On The Horizon:
We remain committed to expanding our reach in the hentai and adult animation sphere in the years to come. We have lots of exciting incoming content thanks to our partnerships with AgentRedGirl and, freshly announced, 3DGSpot. Meanwhile, we continue to pursue new leads for content, studios, and independent animators to team up with us to showcase their work. We’ve even begun exploring more ways to blur the lines between traditional porn and animated porn, such as experiments with live-action futanari, ahegao expressions, fuck machines, and more on the horizon. Adult animation is a medium that still has a lot of room to grow – but thanks to Hentai Sex School opening our eyes in 2020 to its untapped potential, you can be sure we will continue to explore possibilities at every opportunity.
